well, there is actually not that much to tell. I started pipe smoking in 1996, inspired
by my pipe and cigar smoking father. My first pipe was a cheap french NCLR, bought right
out of the basket in a small tobacco shop in Dresden. This pipe is still somewhere around.
Honestly, I didn't smoke it for quite a while, but I simply can't give it away.
My first tobacco (Radfords Classic Port) was almost reason enough to quit smoking again ;-)

this first pipe would probably have been my last.
Well armed with lots of helpful information, my inital problems were easy to overcome.
Not that much later I found out that a pipe maker
lives just a few kilometers away from me. After a visit to his workshop, I was finally
hooked to the whole pipe business.
I'm not an active poster there anymore, but I enjoyed to read the German newsgroup
de.alt.fan.tabak.
For quite a while I was an active member of the editors team of www.daft.de,
the newgroup's own website.
There, I took care of the
